July 28, 2011: Jeppesen integration of Flyvie recorder now offered with Skymanager, providing the first comprehensive debrief and recorder for flight schools.
Jeppesen, a unit of Boeing Flight Services, and Flyvie Inc., a developer and manufacturer of video capturing and debriefing systems for the aviation industry, announce the availability of a video flight recording and debriefing solution to enhance the general aviation training experience. Following the completion of a strategic development agreement in November 2010, Jeppesen now offers the Flyvie debrief system as a stand-alone product and integrated into the Jeppesen Skymanager system, used by flight training organizations to coordinate and manage student pilot training programs.
“We are now offering a transformational enhancement to our flight training products with the introduction of this Flyvie system,” said Jeremy Desruisseaux, Jeppesen chief instructor, Aviation. “With Flyvie, the training session continues immediately following the flight, with the instructor and student reviewing each phase of flight while viewing the student actions, listening to communication, observing the flight attitude and ground path. This brings military and commercial airline debrief capabilities to general aviation, for the first time.” The Flyvie system combines dual point-of-view video, audio, location, and real-time tagging information from multiple sensors in the plane, and records them onto a non-volatile memory card. The flight information is then uploaded to Flyvie’s servers to create a comprehensive flight recording experience that can be reviewed by the student, the instructor, and other pilots to assess and improve flight performance.
“The Flyvie system has been adopted by numerous large flight schools worldwide, including major aviation academies, and is being used by hundreds of individual pilots and CFI’s,” said Eran Karoly, Flyvie VP of Marketing, “The integration of Flyvie into Jeppesen training products introduces a critical component to the flight-schools portfolio of products they offer their students. The ability to provide a military and airline class debriefing system to general aviation pilots emphasizes professionalism, makes training more enjoyable, increases flight safety, and maximizes the effectiveness of a student’s time in the air.” Enhanced training capabilities developed through relationships with industry partners such as Flyvie help Jeppesen to maintain and increase critically important student pilot retention rates. The Flyvie Pro system is available now from Jeppesen and is priced from $3,500 for the general aviation market.

July 28, 2011: Flyvie introduces next generation flight recording and debriefing solution and a propeller filtering algoritm to enhance flight videos.
Flyvie is proud to announce the availability of the Flyvie next generation multi video flight recording and debriefing solution to enhance the general aviation training experience. The new flight recorder, Flyvie 2160 Pro, enables two 1080P, best in class cameras, along with GPS, accelerometers, cockpit audio, in-flight tags and other aircraft data to be captured in sync on a SD card for immediate debrief on the ground. The new system has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities that will be used interactively with tablets and smartphones. Flyvie is accepting orders for the new units with delivery in fall 2011.
Flyvie is also announcing today a cloud service for “prop filtering” which will enable Flyvie members to remove the propeller artifacts in videos taken, looking out through single engine propeller planes. A demo of the results for both the Flyvie iPhone app and the Flyvie 2160 can be seen in this short clip comparing prop filtered vs raw video. The software algorithm will be built into the Flyvie 2160 Pro recorder and will also be available as a service for post flight processing starting September 1st, for all users.

JEPPESEN AND FLYVIE INC. TEAM TO DEVELOP FLIGHT TRAINING RECORDING AND DEBRIEFING SOLUTION
Jeppesen and Flyvie Inc., a developer and manufacturer of video capturing and debriefing systems for the aviation industry, have entered into a strategic relationship to develop and introduce a video flight recording and debriefing solution to enhance the general aviation training experience. The new flight capture solution combined with Jeppesen’s industry-leading aviation training programs and course materials will create a dynamic integrated training solution. The new video capability also will be used as a component of the Jeppesen Skymanager system, which is used by flight training organizations to coordinate and manage student pilot training programs.
“Implementing web-based training solutions developed with Flyvie technology and Jeppesen expertise and integration capabilities will revolutionize the experience for student pilots throughout their flight training program,” said David Wright, Jeppesen senior manager, Training Solutions. “Through this partnership with Flyvie, we have the opportunity to improve the effectiveness of flight training and the methodologies used train the next generation of general aviation pilots.” To develop training solutions that resonate with a new era of student pilots, Jeppesen continues to partner with the aviation community, flight schools and industry associations. Enhanced training capabilities developed through relationships with industry partners such as Flyvie help Jeppesen to maintain and increase critically important student pilot retention rates.
Igal Yaari, COO of Flyvie said, “We are anxious to join forces with Jeppesen. I am happy to say that we share the vision and dedication to soaring above and beyond standardized products and services and I am confident that we can make the pilot training experience more effective and memorable.” Flyvie Inc. systems capture and record video from two cameras, and also GPS data and audio from internal and external aircraft communication. Captured imagery includes the pilot’s view as well as the instrument panel and the pilot’s manipulation of the flight controls. The recorded flight path can then be viewed through Google Earth using Flyvie’s web based applications.
